Elaina had made her way toward the designated area where she would meet her partner. She needed help finding a budew den in Petalburgh Woods, which held a special kind of nutrient at could cure any known ailment. She knew for a fact that it worked on pokemon, but she also wondered if it could work on people as well. However, since it wasn't an actual person that was sick, she figured that she'd keep her little theories herself. As she made her way down the path, she saw a woman sitting atop a tree branch. "You're the partner for the assignment correct? My name's Elaina," She said to the woman above her in the tree. Elaina didn't have any pokemon that were good at healing. In fact, none of her pokemon knew any healing moves. However, if anything tried to attack them, her ghost pokemon would be able to fend them off, but hopefully, nothing like that would occur though. Despite Budew being very gentle, a part of their body was able to produce a toxin that could be lethal. It just goes to show people that even the cutest kinds of pokemon can be just as deadly as an enraged Gyarados.

Elaina held her smile, seeing that Melody appeared to be a really nice person. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Melody.” She said, offering her an extended hand. Elaina wasn’t very much of a hugger, but she did like to give out handshakes when meeting someone for the first time. After the greetings between them both were established, Melody asked Elaina if she knew where they were going exactly. “Unfortunately, I’ve never been to these woods,” Elaina admitted, taking a brief moment to examine their surroundings.

“However, I do know where Budew can be found, generally speaking of course. They like to be near sources of fresh water, like ponds or lakes. If there’s a pond somewhere in these woods, then I’m willing to bet that is where we’ll find them,” Elaina had said confidently. Even though she wasn’t a scientist or a pokemon professor, she liked reading about certain pokemon, mainly ghost types, however, there would be instances where she’d gain insight on other types of pokemon every once in a blue moon, and Budew just so happened to be one of them.

Elaina didn't have any known way to find sources of what, but judging from what Melody was saying, she did, which once again brought them closer to finding some Budew. That was when she brought out ... a Diglett? Or at least ... it looked like one? Was this some kind of form that a Diglett could take that she didn't know about? Apparently, stuff like that had happened to her quite frequently ever since she finished her basic training to become a Ranger. "Is that a diglett?" Elaina had asked Melody, curiously eying the Wiglett where she stood, being slightly fascinated by it. It obviously wasn't a ghost type, but it was still something new to her, all things considered. It reminded her of when she had first met Greta, her Hisuian Zoroark, and then Ira, her Annihilape sometime after that. She couldn't find any information about Greta's unique form, however, she did manage to learn about Annihilape's.

Melody's Wiglett instantly began leading the way, which prompted Elaina to follow along with them. As they walked together, Melody asked Elaina a seemingly simple question. "No particular reason really. I'll take on any assignment given to me. After all, I'm a Ranger. Besides, we're meant to help out in any sort of situation," Elaina had said, smiling at Melody. Since her partner had asked her a question, Elaina figured that she'd return the favor and ask a question of her own, despite it being the same exact one. "What about you? Is there any particular reason why you wanted to help out?" Elaina had asked Melody, curious herself as to why Melody wanted to help the Budew.

According to Melody, the pokemon that she called out to help them search for water wasn't in fact a diglett. As it turns out, It was actually a completely different species - not related to one another in any way. "Really? I thought it was some kind of form a diglett took on," Elaina, continuing to look at it with fascination. She liked readying catalogs about pokemon in general. Sure, she preferred reading about Ghost pokemon, but every once in a while, she found herself reading about other kinds as well. In her opinion, it was important to know the aspects of various kinds of pokemon. It was the best way to help them if they ever needed it. After following Melody's Wiglett, Melody spotted a family of budew.

Elaina didn't have to check them, as she could already tell that they didn't look well in the slightest. "Poor things ..." Elaina had said. That was when she had seen a smaller budew a little farther away from the others. It was too weak to even stand, let alone walk close for Melody's Hatterene and Gardevoir to heal it. Elaina was going to gently pick up the sick pokemon herself, however, Ira the Annihilape burst out of its Pokeball, without Elaina even letting it out. It was as if it could sense that the budew was in distress even from inside his Pokeball. At least, that's how it seemed. Ira gently picked up the sick budew, carrying it over toward the Hatterene. It was then that Melody started to answer Elaina's question. Upon hearing her answer, Elaina smiled and said, "Our answers aren't all that different from one another then," Was all Elaina said, continuing to smile as she saw Ira reach the Hatterene for it to heal the Budew.

Elaina was hopeful that the healing would work, which it did. "Your pokemon are great at healing Melody. I'm sorry that I wasn't all that helpful in that department," Elaina had said. Normally she dealt with assignments that dealt with external dangers than internal ones. However, watching Melody and her pokemon work together the way they did was enjoyable to watch. Plus, it wasn't that bad. She'd never thought she'd see Ira gently hold a budew ever in her life, but then again, Ira was one of the calmest pokemon she ever owned (except when it was battling).

The annihilape put the budew back onto the ground, watching it as it happily scurried away along with the rest of its kin. "That's another job well done in my book. It was a pleasure working with you!" Elaina had said, before she and Ira headed back to Mauville.
